It highlights social and occupational risk factors of Tuberculosis and HIV and their interaction with the public health care delivery system. The case story highlights the journey of Jeetan and Ram from the development and manifestation of symptoms of TB to challenges in seeking treatment. It highlights their struggle with homelessness, poverty, abuse, and grief leading to mental health issues and how they were reached out and provided care through these programs. Home again program provides housing with bespoke support leading to substantive community integartion for people with psychosocial disabilities. MeyerThe study explores how healthcare providers can support women affected by violence by offering them safe ways to share the experiences of violence and mitigating violence against women. The study documents the experiences and highlights the outcomes of training of Healthcare providers using the WHO curriculum adapted for Indian context mainly regarding the training approach, content and its acceptability and feasibility. Morevover, it also highlights a shift in perspective from viewing violence against women as a private issue to understanding it as a health issue, identifying barriers faced by women in disclosing violence and their role in supporting disclosure.Item Rights are Never Given on a Silver Platter(2020) Kimaren Ole Riamit; Dorothee BraunThis case study is a story of history of ethnic violence in Kenya centered around land and its dispossession through manipulated and violently forced Anglo Massai Treaty. Besides, It also highlights various phases of disenfranchisement and dispossession of land of these communities. The case study shows 5 decades of the intergenerational struggles of Massai and Lemek community to stake claims over the dispossed land through community awareness of their rights and critical control points of various agencies of the State. It is a story of hope and shows how communities resist and stake claims of their land and guard their interests using technology and other collective tools.Item Shadowing Suvartha on his Waste-Picking Route in Vijayawada(2020) Shrutika MurthyThe photo-essay is an immersive and reflective exercise that attempts to understand the daily lives of waste pickers through documenting "a day in life" of Suvartha, a waste picker in Vijayawada. It highlights the hazardous and inhuman working conditions of waste pickers lacking any protective equipment, constant bending and carrying heavy loads leading to physical exhaustion, body soreness, joint and muscle pain.Item Women Beedi Workers' Health: Up in Smoke(2022) Smita KhatorThe case study documents occupational hazards and poor working conditions of Beedi workers leading to a range of health issues affecting other domains of their lives. It also shows how women continue to be a source of cheap labour in the informal sector and are made to bear the consequences of occupational hazards without any social security and health care benefits.
